ParentMail, PlusPay, Class Dojo
& Google Classroom
As a school we believe communication with parents is vital in order to promote effective partnerships. To help with this process we use ParentMail as a tool for communication. Parents can access this and PlusPay, our online payment system to communicate and pay for items in school. We also use some other methods for communication which is highlighted below.
Communication between home & School
Parentmail is a very useful communication app that we use at Brightside. Once your child has started with us, you will receive an email with a registration link so that you can log onto and create your account. Parentmail has facilities that allow you to receive emails from the school, book appointments for Parent Consultation Evenings, order and pay for your child’s school dinners, book and pay for a place in our breakfast and after school club (BASE) and give permission and make payments for school trips. Parentmail is used for all financial transactions Brightside is a cashless school.
When your child joins us in Reception, until they leave at the end of Year 6, we use Class Dojo. It connects the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), teachers, students and families through communication features, such as a whole school news feed and messaging service. The children and teachers also award and record team points (or “dojos”) through this app. Parents, students and teachers can send messages, photos and videos via the app and most communication with your child’s class teacher will be via this app. Teachers share important class information, updates and parent letters through this app also. As your child starts Reception, you will be given a letter and individual code to get setup and ready to use Class Dojo.
The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students. Google Classroom has been used during times of lockdown to enable students in Years 1-6 to continue with their learning, enabling teachers to produce lessons in a safe, online environment. Google Classroom is also used during lessons in school and each child will have their own Google login to access their work and anything their teacher has set.
