The battlefields lay forgotten,
All life on it is gone,
It's not a place you want to be,
So hurry along.
But wait, what's that?
It's a poppy flowering at it's best,
In rememberance of the soliders,
Who ended their quest.
So today shall be the day,
We stop and think of them,
Instead of passing by,
Think of the women and men,
Who lost their lives.
Year 5
Every year, our staff and students gather around the tree outside the front entrance of Brightside to pay our respects to those who have lost their lives in conflict.
This year, our Year 6 Leaders read extracts from "In Flanders Fields" and some of our Year 5 children read extracts from a speech to recognise the significance of the Black Poppy Rose.
Our wonderful community then observed a two minutes silence, following Mr Hillson's rendition of "The Last Post".
